One MC who showed some promise in the early '90s was J.T., whose Kick the Funk isn't extraordinary, but indicated that he had a lot of potential. Despite the R&B and dance music appeal some of the songs have, J.T. is essentially a hardcore rapper. The rapper is at his best on sociopolitical material. "Streets O Hardcore," "Priority" and "One Nation" are especially strong, while many of the boasting songs are average and not overly memorable. Unfortunately, J.T. remained obscure and never had a chance to develop.
