AllMusic Review by

A bizarre assortment of '80s hits and semi-hits that includes Junior's "Mama Used to Say," Animotion's "Obsession," the Bar-Kays' "Freakshow on the Dance Floor," and David Grant's "Watching You, Watching Me" is featured across K-Tel Presents: Back to the 80's, but you won't be hearing any of the original versions. The back of the disc notes, "All selections are new stereo recordings by the original artists or one or more members of the original group," which should tell you all you need to know (i.e., "put me back down and walk away"). Even if this disc did feature nothing but the original versions, it would be far too random to be recommendable, and most of the re-recordings are downright bad, made on cheap equipment with only a fraction of the necessary passion (and sometimes skill).
