Johnny Varro and Mark Shane are two masters of swing piano that deserve wider recognition; they are also a perfect pair to play twin pianos, as they each have the musical ESP and attentive ears required to avoid disaster. All of these numbers were recorded unrehearsed in front of live audiences during two separate years of producer Phil Carroll's popular Atlanta Jazz Party; needless to say, there were no second takes or editing. Together they romp through "Three Little Words" and "Jubilee" while their several medleys are imaginative and lush. They even share a laugh by playing an impromptu blues dedicated to their host and his wife, "Blues for Mr. and Mrs. C... In F." Highly recommended for fans of jazz piano.
