AllMusic Review by

The Just for You EP compiled both sides of Houston Wells' first two singles (though not his sole British chart hit, "Only the Heartaches," which was his third 45). Wells was neither a typical Joe Meek-produced artist nor one of the better singers in Meek's stable, being a very country & western oriented vocalist (complete with yodeling trills), though Meek managed to put some of his idiosyncratic production touches on these sides. Three of the four songs are forgettable country pop, but at least the Meek-penned "North Wind" is much more in the style for which Meek was renowned, with twangy guitars, ghostly windblown background voices, a galloping beat, manic electronic keyboard glissandos, and a death-centered lyric. If you want a facsimile of the original EP with original artwork and liner notes, it's one of the dozen EP-CDs contained in the 2007 box set Joe Meek: The EP Collection.
