AllMusic Review by

Jug and washboard bands were quite popular in the late '20s. This disc has the complete recordings of the Tub Jug Washboard Band (four titles including "Washboard Rag" and "Lady Quit Her Husband Onexpectinly"), a pair of sermons by Rev. E.S. "Shy" Moore that are included because the backup rhythm section includes a jug, the vocal duo of Feathers and Frogs (also backed by a rhythm section with a jug), and eight selections by Phillips' Louisville Jug Band, a band that includes such odd instruments as the C-melody sax, the walking cane flute, and a jazzhorn. Overall, the music is spirited if not essential, casting some light on the rural music of the late '20s.
