This is music that has the feel of a light, romantic style, disguising a greater depth of composition which surfaces more with repeated listening. Haunting and reflective, Journey at Twilight maintains an even tempo, rarely upbeat, which creates an intimate space. The music, centered around the multi-instrumentalist Joseph LoPresti, includes flutes, drums, Ocatafone, percussion, and guitar. LoPresti plays piano, synthesizer, guitar and mandolin, and also co-produced the album as well as wrote or co-wrote the ten tracks. If you are looking for pleasant music that is not too ethereal while also staying out of the light jazz mold, Midnight Skye provides the perfectly safe middle ground that allows for focused listening yet doesn't demand your full attention. Piano portions glide into guitar passages which lead gracefully into more electronic weavings.
