Though their own legends make the Falasha, or Ethiopian Jews, descendants of the Queen of Sheba, the oldest solid records go back to the 14th century A.D., and the oldest scholarly guesstimate goes to the 4th. Whatever, their liturgical music is very different from both local secular forms and Ethiopian Orthodox Christian liturgy. Here are parts of Sabbath offices, wedding prayers, and circumcision songs.
