AllMusic Review by

Jazz has long since ceased to be an exclusively American music; top-flight foreign musicians live in all corners of the world, so no one should be surprised that there are some in what used to be the Soviet Union. This 1989 affair linked the talents of gifted pianist Walter Davis, Jr. and exciting drummer Bobby Battle with expert Russian improvisers, the best of whom turns out to be saxophonist Igor Butman. They handle some songs ("Blue 'N Green") better than others ("Blue Monk"), but do everything with sufficient cohesion, showing that music remains the universal language.
