AllMusic Review by

The final of the four LPs (two saluting the 1950s and two covering the '60s) put out by United Artists in the late '70s and drawn from the Pacific Jazz catalog puts an emphasis on big bands with two selections apiece from Gerald Wilson and Buddy Rich. In addition there are numbers featuring Joe Pass, the Jazz Crusaders, Bud Shank, Roger Kellaway and Jean-Luc Ponty in addition to two by the popular Jazz Crusaders. This album gives one a good overview of the label and, unlike the other LPs, much of this hard-bop-oriented material has yet to resurface on CD.
