AllMusic Review by

There are some intriguing and historical performances included on this LP from the English Spotlite label. Two lengthy numbers (including a 13-minute "Perdido") feature what is billed "the Kenton All-Stars" even though over half of the musicians did not play with Stan Kenton: trumpeter Art Farmer, altoist Art Pepper, Bob Cooper and Teddy Edwards on tenors, pianist Hampton Hawes, bassist John Simmons and drummer Chuck Thompson. Also from the same concert, pianist Erroll Garner's Trio jams "Cherokee" with guests Teddy Edwards and singer Dave Lambert. This enjoyable album is rounded out with two selections ("Stealin' Apples" and "WMGM Jump") from Benny Goodman's bebop period; tenor-great Wardell Gray makes his presence felt.
