This out-of-print Inner City LP contains material from the Vogue label, some of which has since been reissued on CD. Tenor saxophonist James Moody is heard in Europe on three songs with the Max Roach Quintet (which includes the drummer/leader, trumpeter Kenny Dorham, pianist Al Haig and bassist Tommy Potter). There are also two numbers from this unit as a quartet without Moody. The second side finds the tenor in Zurich heading an octet. Most unusual about those relatively boppish performances is that the sidemen include trumpeter Trummie Young (no relation to trombonist Trummy Young) and altoist Red Allen (no relation to the New Orleans trumpeter of the same name). James Moody sounds distinctive and creative within the bop idiom throughout the enjoyable sessions.
