AllMusic Review by

At a period of time in the 1970s when the Mercury and EmArcy catalogs were being neglected, the budget Trip label reissued some of their valuable music in interesting (but now difficult-to-find) LPs. This album has trios featuring pianists Beryl Booker, Mary Lou Williams and Erroll Garner (the latter is also heard solo on 1945's "Bouncing with Me") and two quintets with pianist Johnny Guarnieri feature for clarinetist Barney Bigard on "Rose Room" and two standards with trumpeter Buck Clayton and the tenor of Flip Phillips). It's worthy music although not essential in this hodgepodge format.
