AllMusic Review by

The second LP released by the very valuable IAJRC label (it might still be available) is subtitled "A Potpourri of Odd Takes, Unissued Things and Such," an accurate description of the 16 recordings. Seven of the numbers are either alternate takes or were previously unissued when this LP came out in the early '70s, There are fine performances from a variety of groups including The Mound City Blue Blowers (with guests Benny Goodman, Coleman Hawkins and Fats Waller), Frankie Trumbauer, Ted Lewis, Miff Mole, the Big Aces, the Hotsy Totsy Gang, the Louisville Rhythm Kings, Bing Crosby, Jack Teagarden, Clarence Williams, Wingy Manone and even Ted Lewis (who fortunately sits out of his number). The emphasis is on pre-swing classic jazz on this fine sampler, easily recommended to collectors of the era.
