AllMusic Review by

Released in 1995 by Klavier Records, Jazz! New Orleans Style is a fine modern traditional jazz album by the River City Six, self-described as "Wisconsin's premier Dixieland band, specializing in New Orleans/ Chicago-style jazz." Leader and trombonist Ken Peterson is flanked in the front line by trumpeter Lowell Ives (professor emeritus and founder of the UWGB Jazz Department) and clarinetist/saxophonist/vocalist Dan Palmer. The sextet has a strong rhythm section in pianist John Harmon, string bassist Howard Miller, and drummer Dave McDaniel. This enjoyable album of freshly interpreted old-fashioned music is recommended for festive food preparation, backyard barbecues, long distance back road driving, and marathon housework. Under no circumstances should it be confused with Jazz New Orleans Style, a fine collection of historic New Orleans jazz recordings dating from the years 1918-1932. In truth, the two albums complement each other well.
