This compilation documents most of the bands that opened up for the Parasites on their Japanese tour of 1997. So as expected, there isn't one song on here that doesn't stray away from their style of perpetually bouncy, simple pop-punk. And what Japan Punk Kills You lacks in sound diversity, it makes up for in enjoyment. Cruller stands out with some of the catchiest guitar leads that side of the Pacific, while Grace follow a close second with a sound that resembles the Canadian cuddlecore trio Cub. Others worth checking out include Bug Sneakers, Mach Pelican, See Her Tonight and Sunnychair. One of the better resources of Japanese punk that one can find on compact disc.
