On Isolated Rhythm Clock, producer Tim Koch concentrates on the collision of future and past: the dense rhythms of electro-techno and evocative, yearning old-world melodies. It's a combination that perfectly recalls the last classic Black Dog album, 1995's Spanners, without stooping to mere imitation. Each track is well-thought-out and programmed with excellence, though "Rhino Song" and "Quasipede" do rise above the pack slightly.
