Like his contemporaries 4Hero and Carl Craig, Russ Gabriel's roots in electronic music have become increasingly elusive as time has passed. In fact his output for such notables as Planet E, Soma, and GPR, not to mention his own Soul on Wax and Ferox imprints, has drifted increasingly towards the work of Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock. This resultant album of jazz-funk sits comfortably with the aforementioned heroes, with spine-shivering strings often the foundation to Gabriel's keywork, strong percussion the driving force on which vocalists Corrina Joseph and Jimmie Wilson offer the final flourish to an already impressive full-length.
