The second of nine Lp's from the collector's label Ajax that reissue the complete Will Bradley features the trombonist's band during a period when it was finding its own sound and niche. "Celery Stalks At Midnight" was Bradley's first hit and it was soon followed by "Strange Cargo." With trumpeter Steve Lipkins, Peanuts Hucko (on tenor), pianist Freddie Slack and drummer-vocalist Ray McKinley making important contributions, this relatively short-lived orchestra (which only lasted three years) made a lasting impression. Highlights of Joyce's second volume includes "Jimtown Blues," "Swingin' A Dream," "Flying Home" and the two hits. In addition Carlotta Dale takes four vocals, she shares "It's A Wonderful World" with McKinley (who himself sings two other songs) and rhythm guitarist Steve Jordan vocalizes on "O Sole Mio."
