My Complex have the potential of falling into the rut of becoming another Lifetime rip-off band. All of the elements are present: the driving melodies, the fast-paced momentum, and the added emotional sentiment that's included in the vocal package. But with the additional hybrid of metallic riffs, dual vocal complexities, and multiple layers of start-stop tempo changes, the band's sound seems influenced by the likes of Braid or Cap 'n Jazz sped up to a hyper pace. Comparisons aside, If We Kept Moving provides a diverse package of melodic punk that breaks the rules of genre classification.
