AllMusic Review by

Threatening to create a new low in lo-fi, I Think Therefore I Ham is one of the most amateurish and inessential albums one might ever come across. The lame pun of a title -- dare one call it "ham-fisted?" -- serves as an indicator of the insipid music therein. George Hakkila, a/k/a Ham Steak, offers 19 senseless, repetitive meanderings, most clocking in at about two minutes or less in classic Guided By Voices fashion, albeit sans hooks or wit. His Stephin Merritt-like theatrically low baritone could have been put to intriguing use, but it's trapped in sloppy musicianship and ill-formed, immature thoughts scarcely worthy of a stoned 15 year old. Even a hidden pennywhistle-infused cutup of "Macarena" cannot save this album, which is not worth any music fan's time.
