AllMusic Review by

No stranger to notoriety, sexy looking as well as sounding New Yorker DJ Jackie Christie made her bid for national, if not international, recognition in 2003 with Hot and Tasty Beats. Released by one of the Big Apple's most established dance music labels, Nervous Records, the mix showcases the sort of good-feeling vocal house tracks characteristic of both Christie and the label. There aren't many big-name tracks or producers featured on Hot and Tasty Beats beyond remixes of Billie Ray Martin and iio (the latter fresh off their mammoth international smash "Rapture"), as that's beside the point. This mix isn't about anthems or producers; if that's what you're looking for, you've definitely picked the wrong CD. Rather, this mix is all about Christie, who throws down a lively set that's typical of what you'd hear on a typical night out clubbing in New York: a sweaty run of sultry house tracks highlighted by tinges of Latin rhythms and seductive diva crooning and wailing that is capped off by a descent into the darker, druggier depths of progressive house. Christie doesn't reinvent the wheel here on Hot and Tasty Beats, but does deliver precisely what the album title and packaging signify: sexy music spun by a sexy woman for people who want to feel sexy. It's that simple.
