A midline collection from Silva that compiles suites, cues, themes, title, and end title music from a variety of horror films. James Bernard is, of course, well-represented with his Hammer Horror music. The album opens with a rousing rendition of "Ave Satan!" from Jerry Goldsmith's score for The Omen, and continues in like vein until reaching a bit of a stiff spot with Daniel Caine's renditions of several John Carpenter themes. It revives after that, however, to present more excellent orchestral efforts, some of which, it should be noted, seem quite far from horrifying. The concluding track, the prologue from Vampire Circus, goes very far to stake David Whitaker's claim to fame as a dynamic composer, with some creative uses of dissonance and percussion. The various selections have been remixed to make use of Dolby Surround encoding.
