The major-label debut (and first album-length) effort by the honeyrods -- lowercase type like k.d. lang, thank you -- brings to the plate an even dozen tracks of damn fine songwriting melded to nothing-special but real good playing. The band has a way with an edgy hook, as exemplified on "Float," "I'd Rather" and "Soap Opera," and they get even poppier on "Love Bee" and "Pictures," staking out new musical turf that didn't clock in on their two previous local EPs. There's a lot of great singing, playing and attitude on this record, and if the honeyrods are what a good-time band for the '90s is supposed to sound like, then the millenium is in fine shape.
