Home of the Cannon Saints Review

by Kurt Morris

Red Shirt Brigade's Home of the Cannon Saints is easily summarized by drawing comparisons to a couple of other indie pop superstars. Vocally, this four-piece has a contrast of higher-pitched, feminine vocals with regular male vocals (although both are male). This portion of the music is very reminiscent of the Anniversary, especially when the keyboards are drawn into play. Musically, with Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie playing a major role behind the soundboard, the direction should become quite clear. While there really isn't much new ground tread, what's played out is enjoyable and pleasant. Another in a line of standard indie pop acts, but not without their share of talent.
