AllMusic Review by

Hits of the '70s isn't just skimpy. It contains "...new stereo recordings performed by the feature artists." Here, as is the case with every other disc of re-recordings, "new" is synonymous with "inferior." And, in the case of some of these takes -- Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz," Starbuck's "Moonlight Feels Right," Walter Egan's "Magnet and Steel" -- "new" is synonymous with "laughable." Todd Rundgren's "Hello It's Me," Rare Earth's "Get Ready," Leon Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love," and Badfinger's "No Matter What" aren't nearly as poor, but they hardly make the compilation worthy of purchase (let alone your precious listening time).
