The six-volume Hits of the 50's, released by Legacy Entertainment (not to be confused with Sony's Legacy subsidiary), is filled with re-recordings of varying sources. The sources are not identified, but they are a mixture of cheap studio re-recordings and poor recordings of live performances, and it's not uncommon that the groups feature as few as one original member. These compilations could never possibly take the place of the real deal, so they should be avoided. The second volume of the series includes versions of the Coasters' "Yakety Yak," Elvis Presley's "Good Rockin' Tonight" (which is of particularly poor quality), and Bill Haley & His Comets' "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On."
