A single from the My Mortal Beloved album, Her Deepest Sleep makes a fine showcase for the neo-synth rock/light goth sound of Faith Assembly; it's at once extremely reminiscent of the early-'80s hey-day of that sound and has a slightly richer, more up-to-date feeling to it as well. The credit for that actually goes for the lovely vocal overdubs from Mark Buss and Megan Erben both -- while he's taking the lead, her backing fills and croons, especially on the complex combinations on the midsong break, help the band stand out from simple revivalism. Three mixes of the single, each fairly similar to the other, appear on the EP -- the "chaos" mix has some fun further dance beat action -- along with two standalone B-sides. "Erase You" brings in a sense of polite Cocteau Twins guitar and vocal style to the proceedings, while the "exalted" mix of "Redemption" aims directly for the dancefloor with the best song Book of Love never wrote.
