This second collection by the progenitors of the East Coast quartet style starts with two rare sides from Ward's (1937), then continues with 29 Bluebird cuts, most of which remain unreissued in album form. The group at this time was composed of the late great Willie Bobo (bass), who later joined the legendary Dixie Hummingbirds, Roosevelt Fenoy (lead and manager), Bob Beatty (tenor), who later joined The Sensational Nightingales, and Henderson Massey (baritone). Researcher Doug Seroff equates The Heavenly's tight compact harmony with that of one of the greatest quartets of all time -- The Famous Blue Jay Singers of Alabama. That's praise indeed (cassette only).
