Pianist Harold Danko's debut as a leader was made for the soon-defunct Inner City label. The most significant aspect of this excellent modern mainstream date (which has four Danko originals, plus "You Made Me Love You" and "Sweet Georgia Brown") is that it is one of the few examples of the late tenor saxophonist Gregory Herbert really stretching out. Herbert, who also plays some alto, soprano and piccolo, passed away less than three years later and is the main star of these performances. Also on the date are bassist Dave Shapiro, drummer Jimmy Madison and, on one song, flutist Lawrence Feldman. Worth searching for, this now-obscure LP will hopefully be reissued on CD someday.
