AllMusic Review by

Tommy James & the Shondells' Hanky Panky & Other Hits is a strange little collection. At ten songs, one would think that almost all of James hits would fit on and the collection would be a perfect intro to the band's work. Instead the disc contains a couple of the group's biggest smashes like "Crystal Blue Persuasion," "I Think We're Alone Now," "Hanky Panky" and "Draggin' the Line" (which is technically a James solo track) and rounds it out with a bunch of album tracks. These tracks are very good, "Say I Am" and "Do Something to Me" especially, but it seems like a waste of metal to even produce this CD (or money to buy it). If you are a casual fan of the band you are going to want just the hits, if you want to delve deeper into the band's catalog you will want more tracks and to have them presented in a more thoughtful way. This disc may be very cheap but, as is usually the case, you get what you pay for.
