The title of this CD is misleading -- these are the same songs that comprised the Street People's first and only album on Vigor Records, and Uni Disc did not uncover any unreleased gems in Vigor's vaults. "Greatest Hits" is a dubious term, since the Street People didn't have any hits, the closest being "I Wanna Slow Dance With You Baby," a regional charter that received some exposure along the East Coast. Casual fans west of Philadelphia have probably never heard of the Street People; Ray Dahrouge's productions are too pop for R&B radio stations, and the uninspired Sesame Street-sounding vocal arrangements will have you craving bubble gum -- "Don't Leave Me Hanging (When You Hang Up)" exemplifies this. Yet there's a charming element to these songs that makes them palatable.
