Although this extremely brief collection -- ten songs, none of which come even close to being three minutes in length -- seems to be over almost before one knows it, it still manages to capture the essential outlines of the Chordettes' two-decade career. The big hits are all here, including 1954's "Mr. Sandman," 1958's "Lollipop," and 1961's gorgeous "Never on Sunday," along with the novelty hit "Zorro." For most listeners, this short set will be all they'll ever need. As always, though, there's a lot more to the story, and listeners curious for more should check out Varese's much more expansive 25 All-Time Greatest Recordings.
