This difficult-to-find English LP contains two historic radio broadcasts that have been reissued elsewhere. The 1938 session features such Dixie-oriented all-stars as trumpeters Max Kaminsky, Yank Lawson and Hot Lips Page (despite the personnel listing, Marty Marsala, Bobby Hackett and Pee Wee Russell are not on this date), trombonist Tommy Dorsey, clarinetists Mezz Mezzrow and Joe Marsala, Bud Freeman on tenor, soprano great Sidney Bechet (starring on "China Boy"), pianists Jess Stacy and Joe Bushkin, Carmen Mastren or Eddie Condon on guitar, bassist Art Shapiro, and Zutty Singleton or Dave Tough on drums. The flip side has trumpeters Harry James and Charlie Teagarden, trombonist Jack Teagarden, clarinetist Joe Marsala, Chu Berry on tenor, pianist Teddy Wilson, bassist John Kirby and drummer George Wettling. The fly in the ointment is announcer Alistair Cooke, whose excitable announcements and tendency to shout out soloist's names while they are playing is constantly distracting.
