That this is a budget collection only makes it more worthwhile, as any Golden Gate Quartet recording can be recommended. The "jubilee"-style a cappella gospel that they sang in the 1940s would later find root in the 1950s on secular New York street corners as doo wop, but this is the real sanctified, unfiltered deal. Test the holy waters with this and if still thirsting, pass it along and try the more thorough -- and only slightly more expensive -- Travelin' Shoes.
