This is silly. From the name of the band to the song titles ("Happy Squirrel"), right down to the lyrics (as heard on the aforementioned song: "I am a happy squirrel, I live on acorn street/I scuttle up trunks then spring to my feet"), the Gingerbread Men don't seem to take that many things seriously. But that's what makes this EP so much fun, as the punky guitar riffs seem to go hand in hand with the band's innocent look on life. Oddly enough, the B-side of "Day Job, Night Band" conjures up a reminiscences of the Suicidal Tendencies classic "Institutionalized," with its hyperactive chorus and skate-punk inspirations --just don't expect the Gingerbread Men to instigate a riot or form a street gang posse in their home turf of the Boston suburbs.
