AllMusic Review by

Though they made one album, Radio Free Vestibule really made their name on CBC radio, writing sketches and songs for various shows, including their own. In the seven years since the release of their first comedy album, the group shortened their name to the Vestibules (something people called them anyhow because the whole name was such a mouthful) and continued to write a whole lot more material for the radio, and some of the best of those sketches reappear here on Get Spiffy!. As with the troupe's radio material, most of the material here takes on pop culture, with parodies of commercials ("It's performance artist Barbi!") and television shows (the multiple installments of the game show "Higher Lower"). There are also a few twisted original songs, like the song about the good old days of rock & roll which somehow turns into a tale of the singer's brother's hamster. But wait, there's more, like some pretty insightful commentary on some of pop culture's favorite television shows, like Scooby Doo: "Why is Shaggy still with this group? He's obviously terrified of ghosts...why doesn't he just stay home? And is it their job, because if it is...who pays them?" OK, so maybe it isn't all that insightful. What it is, though, is long -- at 42 tracks and over 53 minutes, there's a lot to digest. Thankfully, it's pretty easy to drop in at any point of the album and start laughing.
