The official soundtrack release to the failed live-action adaptation of the boomer-era animated favorite George of the Jungle is a mess by any definition. A slapdash collection of original pop songs, vintage pop hits and themes from Marc Shaiman's theatrical score, it's a painfully schizophrenic and inconsistent listening experience by any metric. Both the Presidents of the United States of America and Weird Al Yankovic contribute forced, self-satisfied renditions of the character's familiar theme song, but they prove no less irritating than comedy legend John Cleese's rendition of "My Way," while Shaiman's familiar jazz-inspired melodies aren't much better.
