A blatant attempt to cash in on the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy craze, Gay Style for the Straight Life: Day Spa doesn't really have much to do with style or gay lifestyles, but it is a pleasant-enough collection of keyboard-based new age instrumentals While there's nothing particularly spectacular about the album, its performances are refreshingly understated. Highlights include "Timeline," "Seven Pools," and "Old Town." Despite its silly name, Gay Style for the Straight Life: Day Spa would indeed be an appropriately relaxing but unobtrusive soundtrack for meditation, relaxation, or any other therapeutic activity.
