Jesper Dahlbäck (The Persuader, DK), Jean Louis Huhta (Stonefunkers, Mazarine Street), and trumpet player Goran Kaifes join together for the Brommage Dub project, combining house, rare groove, and the fetid laxity of jazz that comes across as the Swedish answer to Andrew Weatherall's fierce work with Primal Scream. The Funky Badja EP illustrates the point. Its nomadic horns makes bizarre sense in the middle of the standard club beats and the deep pockets of dub, sometimes broaching stolid intellectualism but usually knowing when to rely on instinct and wash in and out like an intoxicated tide.
