Another entry in Cold Blue Music's CD-single series, "From Shelter" literally means a brief series of excerpts from Peters' score for a Lane Lucas dance/theater work called Shelter. Hopefully, the rest of the score contains more of substance than the meager trickles of ambient music heard here. "Three Short Stories" consists of three slowly entwining duets for Alicia Ultan's violas -- "A Fine Powder," "Nothing but Love," and "Lavender" -- little more than lazy incidental music, closely and warmly recorded. In "My Burning Skin to Sleep," Peters plays isolated piano chords with the damper pedal pressed down that glisten in the soft-focused acoustic, whereupon the cooing sound of Marghreta Cordero's overlapping voices carries over the piano. Given the paucity of ideas at play here, a 16-minute CD-single is about all the time this music deserves.
