French pop sensation Frédéric François made breezy, fluffy adult contemporary from the '70s to the '90s, and the best of that material arrives on Frédéric François, Vol. 1. Unfortunately, the best of that material is still quite dated and bland, making it hard to recommend this collection. On one hand, his impassioned voice lends the music a quality that it would severely lack in the hands of another. On the other hand, the music itself is quite grounded in the lite rock sound of the era, which means the arrangements are very simplistic and dull overall. In the end, it all depends on the listener's tolerance for the genre, but this is not recommended to anyone unfamiliar with this sound.
