Is there really enough room for yet another Kenny Rogers collection? Well, surprisingly the answer is yes. There has yet to be a definitive single-disc overview of Rogers' career, and unfortunately Park South's For the Good Times collection doesn't remedy this blight, but that's not to say it's a poor collection -- all it means is that For the Good Times and the numerous other similar collections on the market could very easily become unnecessary were just one carefully toiled-over collection to come out and set a benchmark for quality. Oddly, For the Good Times has few of Rogers' big hits, but "Ruben James," "Me and Bobby McGee," and "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love to Town" all appear here, making this a pleasant enough listen.
