AllMusic Review by

The second of two IAJRC LPs that feature previously unreleased radio broadcasts and transcriptions focuses on three different big bands along with an obscure small group headed by C-melody saxophonist Frankie Trumbauer in 1937. Trumbauer performs "The Shiek of Araby" and three numbers associated with cornetist Bix Beiderbecke, the little-known 1939 version of Paul Whiteman's Orchestra features solos by trumpeter Charlie Teagarden and trombonist Miff Mole, Benny Goodman's famous big band performs four numbers from 1936-39 including two instrumentals and a vocal apiece by Helen Ward and Helen Forrest, and Louis Armstrong's 1944 band has plenty of the leader's trumpet and vocals along with some rare early tenor from Dexter Gordon. This set (which is probably still available through IAJRC) will delight swing collectors.
