AllMusic Review by

Germaine Montero was born in France but Spanish song became the adopted core of her repertory, in part owing to the time she spent there working with Federico García Lorca from the late '20s on. This 10" LP marked her American debut, and is a fine showcase for the mezzo-soprano's superb intonation and expressiveness. The album subsequently won the Grand Prix du Disc award in 1953 for "excellence of performance and beauty of sound," and became the core of a much more fully loaded CD release from Omega Records.
