AllMusic Review by

Fine compilation of rare mid-60s psychedelic punk from Texas. A cut above the garage norm, both because of the excellence of much of the material, and the high level of diversity relative to many garage comps -- there's some good pop and folk-rock hooks, not just sludgy bluesy outrage. The Esquires' "Come On, Come On" is garage rock at its most irresistibly frenetic; the Playboys of Edinburgh, the Headstones, and the Floyd Dakil Four are fetchingly Byrdsy, with a bit of country influence even creeping in; and the Trolls ("That's the Way My Love Is") and Finnicum ("Come On Over") offer the kind of raunchy blend of power and finesse that Texas punk is famous for.
