AllMusic Review by

One of Tommy Olivencia's first major successes was, in many ways, responsible for his band's established reputation among fans, and among the first records to make Puerto Rican salsa a reality in the earliest days of its inception. There is a little bit of everything on Fire-Fire/Fuego Fuego, as is customary in the Olivencia band: The title tune is an energetic calypso (the band had a strong following is places like Aruba); the standard "Verdad Amarga" (its inclusion was by happenstance); the hilarious "Cúmbele Maína" (composed by Daniel Gonzalez); and "Soy Dichoso" (by Hugo González). Paquito Guzmán and Chamaco Ramírez are the superb vocalists in this outing, one of the top tropical records of 1969. Tommy Olivencia was gaining popularity at a breakneck pace.
