Previous Lithops singles have had one upbeat track and one ambient excursion, but this 12" single showcases the quiet, brooding side of Jan St. Werner exclusively. "Sequenced Twinset" combines gurgling synthesizer sounds, machine static, and distant drones, arranged with an ample sense of space. "Fi" is slightly more cheerful, with stuttering organ chords playing what could reasonably be called a melody. Both tracks are reminiscent of St. Werner's more ambient work with Mouse on Mars, such as the vinyl-only LP Glam, and his Microstoria project with Oval's Markus Popp. The quality here is on par with Lithops' many fine releases.
