AllMusic Review by

Fats on Fire is the first of a two-volume series of Fats Domino's mid-'60s recordings for ABC/Paramount, both of which are mid-priced imports packed with 24 tracks each. A lot was happening in R&B in the mid-'60s with the rise of soul and Motown, etc, but Fats stuck to his guns and kept churning out his own brand of rock & roll. The production values may be slightly more lavish on these sides, but they are definitely of a piece with his earlier recordings, and well worth acquiring for those who care enough to own either of the box sets of his classic Imperial tracks. This volume includes such gems as "There Goes My Heart Again," "Bye Baby, Bye Bye," and Ted Daffan's "I'm a Fool to Care," as well as a few re-recordings of songs from his Imperial years.
