Fans lucky enough to own the American CD release of Nowhere need not actually worry about Fall unless they're completists -- all four tracks ended up on that version, with "Dreams Burn Down," included in the album's original running order, joined by the other three at the disc's end. Ironically, this includes the song "Nowhere" itself, arguably making the American CD release the most complete version of the album. On its own, though, Fall is still a keeper and a half -- "Dreams Burn Down" itself, with a Colbert drum blast worthy of John Bonham and skyscraping guitars aplenty, not to mention Gardener's blissed-out vocals, plays the epic card just right. "Taste" foreshadows the pop hooks of "Twisterella," while "Here and Now" adds harmonica to the mix and makes it work. As for "Nowhere" itself, it's a stone-cold (and stoned) shoegaze landmark, a rumbling bed of drones supporting distanced, lost singing and building screams of guitar.
