The Popsters are one of the more typical pop-punk bands featured on Stardumb Records. That isn't an insult; they just have a more traditional approach than most of the artists on the label. Like the Prozac-inspired cousin to Hüsker Dü's New Day Rising, Everything I Want is a smart and dynamic record that offers a rich bunch of songs hidden behind simplistic songwriting. This is tense, girl-crazy music that would make for a perfect soundtrack to a teenage boy's mind, reflecting the self-doubt ("Be My Girlfriend"), the yearning (the title track), and the carefree optimism ("Teenage Dream") that goes with those turbulent years. Some teenage punk-rocker should make this the soundtrack to his summer before his one of his friends beats him to it. Others might enjoy it, but rest assured they won't relate with it nearly as well.
